In 2023, Mathieu Janin, Chairman of SLS ACTIPARC Sillon Alpin, an incubator for positive-energy entrepreneurs, has turned an ambitious vision into reality. Today, this business park, located in Le Cheylas in the Isère department, brings together 50 companies and employs 350 people. This success is the fruit of an approach based on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and a commitment to the energy transition.
The Adventure of a Construction Man
Mathieu Janin has had a varied career in the building and civil engineering sector. From labourer to builder, from team leader to site manager, he has acquired in-depth knowledge of the building industry and built up a network of solid partners. In 2017, he took the plunge and bought this brownfield site, thus launching the ACTIPARC adventure. The reindustrialisation project was launched.
A commitment to Positive Energy
In 2023, SLS ACTIPARC reached an important milestone by becoming an energy-positive company. This achievement means that it produces more energy (1.6 GWh) than it consumes (1.2 GWh). To achieve this feat, several sources of electricity production have been deployed on site, including photovoltaic panels, solar shading and a wind turbine. In addition, future projects include the creation of a photovoltaic field, battery recycling and the production of green hydrogen. SLS ACTIPARC will also be connected to a hydroelectric power station. The aim is clear: to make an active contribution to the decarbonisation of the industry by increasing their electricity production tenfold over the next two years, to reach 15 GWh per year.
Company developments on the site
Companies began setting up on the site with the creation of an industrial logistics warehouse. Gradually, various companies have joined the park, covering fields as varied as boiler making, mechanics, wood, metal recovery, recycling, battery testing, hydrogen battery storage, training and IT. The complementary nature of some of these companies fosters a synergy conducive to the development of each.
A key event in 2021 was the arrival of Alstom, a world-renowned company specialising in the renovation and maintenance of trains, metros and trams. The arrival of Alstom has added weight to the project in the eyes of the local authorities and financial partners.
Today, the site is home to around fifty companies and generates 350 jobs. Ambitions for the end of 2025 are high, with a target of 500 jobs on the site.
A new 3,000 m2 service centre has been developed, including a sports hall, a meeting room, a catered function room and an outdoor relaxation area.
Improving the quality of life at work is a key concern. Electric bicycles and recharging points are available on site. From a social point of view, the company promotes the reintegration and integration of people with disabilities and actively supports local associations. In terms of financing, the project will generate a total investment of €100 million between now and 2025.
Key partners
SLS ACTIPARC relies on a solid network of partners and local authorities. It has more than 50 suppliers and 50 customers. It also relies on participative management to give employees as much autonomy as possible.
